His drawings always come in waves too. One week it’s demonic dudes, another week it’s men in nature. One day it’s new takes on Wonder Woman, another it’s avian human hybrids. He does it all. For the past week or so, Ian’s obsession has been making portraits of puppoes—and the results are adorable.
Encircled and focused on big facial expressions, Ian’s been making dogs of all shapes and sizes. I assume they’re all dogs he knows or has found online and they are all connected by a large, regal stance. A little Italian Greyhound looking dog has arresting googly eyes while a Saint Bernard is transformed from big, fat, and sloppy into something a lot more stately. He’s definitely looking beyond a dog’s exterior and embedding their personality into these drawings.
Each portrait is in his style too: they’re created in either deep earth tones or fabulously light gradients. I’m not sure if these are commissions or a self-initiated series but they are a nice treat for his followers. I’m very much looking forward to seeing more of them and, who knows, maybe we’ll start seeing a few famous dogs that we know.
