It’s that time: it’s almost Christmas!
And here are some things to read over the weekend, your link to holiday time.
Teen Vogue has been making news for being woke but, spoiler alert, they’ve always been woke. A lot of bad music came out this year and these pop songs were particularly bad. Overwatch released who their first gay character is and it wasn’t who I thought it would be. (Cute, nevertheless.) Technology and fake news have intersected in such insane ways this year and Buzzfeed’s analysis of a hoax website’s empire is beyond fascinating. How fat is Santa? Science says pretty big. Vice has launched a new queer vertical that I’d love to work for, cranking out great stories like how to be gay in the Catholic church and drag queen story time. In case you were curious, Donald Trump’s doctor sounds genuinely insane. This is the perfect time of year to recall Oofj’s bewitching, eerie cover of “The First Noel.” Wes Anderson’s new movie is a stop-motion feature about dogs but he kind of looks like a lesbian and talks like Madonna. The fight between Margret Cho and Tilda Swinton is so fascinating and NPR’s read of it is perfect. Finally, here is a great list of the least influential people of 2016. Looking back on all the deaths of 2016 can be inspirational to be your best self as New York Times Magazine illustrates Finally, something to keep you moist through the new year.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a happy new year!
