Two years ago, Outside The Lines became an art cult classic. It’s an interactive, highly buzzed about art book that is less kiddie corner and more curated experience. The book exists where high art and everyday audiences meet.
It obviously was a lot of fun and seemed too good for only one edition to exist. So, of course, there is a sequel: Outside The Lines, Too. Created by art enthusiast and all around rad lady Souris Hong, the Too is rightly the same concept gifted to you again with brand new artists. For those of you who want to be more pro-active in your art experiences, this new book is obviously for you.
There are lots of great artists involved. As you see above, there’s a Tim Biskup piece and a little Jeremeyville too. What Hong does in her curation is spread the art love even further than her first book by simultaneously bringing in bigger and smaller artists. She somehow was able to create something that felt like it was extremely polished artwork and approachably folksy doodles. This quality helps to remind that anyone can—and should—get involved with art.
The book is available now and, as I said years ago when the first book came out, it will make a great holiday gift for art lovers young or old. Oh! If you’re in Los Angeles, you’ll also be able to meet lots of the artists at a book launch at MOCA. Learn more about that here.
