Design: This is Honda’s attempt at Prius. It’s smaller and younger and completely missing the point: it’s not an electric car. Yes, there are hybrid versions—but this is not one of them.
Aesthetic: Honey, I Shrunk The Kids: Prius Edition
Features: Nothing really. This little Fit is cute and feels like something I could slide into my pocket and that seems to be the only redeeming quality it has. It costs less than $15K so there’s that.
Honda Dayness: This car is a part of my campaign within my campaign to find cars that aren’t Civics or Accords or CR-Vs because those are too Honda and a helluva lot more ubiquitous than I previously thought them to be. The Fit is very Honda—small, affordable, reliable—but maybe has a little too much character and trendiness to truly be Honda Day material.
How Happy Does This Honda Make Me? A little, actually. It’s the essence of Honda: a good car that just wants your money. It doesn’t care about the environment and only cares about being cool only to the point that it will dupe you into thinking it’s a great car. No, it isn’t a Prius. It’s not even a Matrix. It’s a Fit. Speaking of fit, this is a great outfit. Club Monaco makes clothing that I never have an issue with and is easy to tailor into something more you. Also, the Uniqlo jacket is the best ripoff of those beautiful Patagonia puffers.
