Some good news! Not major good news but good enough. Remember the Paris Agreement (or Accord, as some say)? It has been maintained, hopefully, is going to entail some doubling down.
The deal, announced on 15 December in Katowice, Poland, establishes rules for tracking and reporting individual nations’ greenhouse-gas emissions and climate policies. It also clarifies how countries will review their climate commitments in the future and monitor the transfer of money and technologies to developing countries.
“The multilateral system has delivered a solid result,” UN climate chief Patricia Espinosa said in a statement. “This is a roadmap for the international community to decisively address climate change.”
Great! There are some kinks to still be figures out but shit seems to actually be getting done.
Does this mean we’re in the clear? Pssh. Nope. Get it together and do your part, fam.
